Govt. sets aside K 21 million for roads works in Lusaka this year
Lusaka, January 18th, 2014, ZANIS–Government says it has set aside K21 million for the feeder road rehabilitation and maintenance project in Lusaka province for the year 2015.
Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Wamunyima Muwana says the funds will go a long way in ensuring that roads are rehabilitated and becomes passable especially in rural parts of the province.
Mr. Muwana further said government has made tremendous progress in ensuring that most roads in the province were rehabilitated making it easier for people especially farmers to ferry their produce.
ZANIS reports that the Permanent Secretary said this in Lusaka today during the commissioning of the new road equipment valued at K2.6 million.
The occasion also saw the launch of the Feeder Road Rehabilitation and Maintenance Project in the province.
Mr. Muwana has since directed the Roads Rural Unit (RRU) in Lusaka province to ensure that the new equipment is not archived and that it is used for its intended purpose.
And RRU Principal Engineer Emmanuel Sampa praised government for procuring the road equipment saying the development will consolidate RRU’s mandate of constructing roads in rural parts of the province.
