Lightening attack leaves couple hospitalized
Shiwang`andu, January 15, 2015, ZANIS… A married couple of Shiwang’andu district were hospitalized in a local clinic after being struck by lightening.
The ligtening which struck yesterday has also damaged a house and electric appliances worth thousands of Kwacha belonging to another person in the same area.
Shiwang`andu District Community Medical Officer Webster Kambinga has told the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Shiwangándu today that that the couple, Christina Katongo and Donald Kampamba were hospitalized at Shiwang`andu Clinic after being struck by lightening at their home.
Dr. Kambinga described the condition of the couple as stable and that they have since been discharged.
Meanwhile, one of the victims Christina Katongo told ZANIS that the incident happened around 05:00 hours after a heavy down pour yesterday.
Mrs Katongo narrated that her husband was struck first by the lightening and later fell to the ground where he lay unconscious.
She said her husband suffered temporal paralysis on his legs and was rushed to the clinic by their neighbours .
And the same lightening also damaged electric appliances worth thousands of kwacha belonging to Maybin Kanyemba of the same area.
Mr. Kanyemba said that property damaged include a 40 inch plasma television, a home theatre, a DSTV decoder and two adaptors.
