Govt releases 9.5 million kwacha for Farmers’ payment in Mungwi District
Mungwi, January 15,2015, ZANIS —- Government has released 9.5 million kwacha for payment of farmers in Mungwi in Northern Province who sold their maize to Food Reserve Agency (FRA).
The development has been confirmed by Mungwi district commissioner Joyce Chanda in an interview with ZANIS in Mungwi district today.
Mrs. Chanda expressed happiness at the gesture by government.
She said at least the backlog of farmers who had not received their dues will now be paid their money by Monday next week.
Mrs. Chanda revealed that sometime last week some of the farmers in the district had been cleared after government sent 1.5 million kwacha to the district.
A number of farmers in Mungwi have in the recent past complained bitterly for non-payment of their money by the agency.
However, government has now fully settled all the outstanding dues for farmers in the district.
