—Mafinga District Commissioner (DC), Beatrice Nakanyika, has praised government for its continued support to the agricultural sector development in Mafinga district of Muchinga Province.
Ms Nakanyika made the praise this during the official hand over of Nakanyenjele dip tank by Agriculture Deputy Minister, Luxon Kazabu, over the weekend.
She told the Deputy Minister that the future of Mafinga district lies in the development of a vibrant, competitive and efficient agricultural sector, which assures increased food security and income at all levels by contributing to employment creation and ultimate poverty reduction.
Ms Nakanyika expressed happiness with government’s inclusion of sorghum, rice and groundnuts in the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) to promote crop diversification for sustainability, adding that government has this season increased the number of packs by 1,000.
The DC said that the African Development Bank, in collaboration with government, will construct three dip tanks in Muyombe, Kalyamani and Nachisitu Agricultural Camps and livestock service centres under the livestock infrastructure development to enable farmers dip their animals.
She said government is quick to develop Mafinga district under road infrastructure and other infrastructures so that the district becomes more habitable and a better place to work in and called on the Deputy Minister to be visiting the district to give support.
