THE Zambia Information and Communication Technology Authority (ZICTA) is working on upgrading its college in Ndola in order to match with the pace of innovation in Zambia.
Board Chairperson Emmanuel Musonda said ZICTA was working on upgrading the Zambia Information and Communication College in Ndola.
He said in a speech read for him by board member Vesters Chungu that the Information Communication Technology (ICT) industry in Zambia was one of the fastest growing in the region hence the need to have the training upgraded.
“As an ICT regulator, we are cognizant of the value of education.
This sector demand continues training and upgrading of skills to match the fast pace of innovation,” he said.
He said this when the company donated three second hand vehicles, two double- cab vans and a micro bus valued at K200 000 to the college in Ndola on Friday last week.
Mr Musonda said the donation was part of the upgrading process adding that they would help alleviate transport challenges the college was facing.
He said ZICTA valued the investments and resources needed to run the learning institution in meeting its required standards.
The board chairperson added that ZICTA would next year embark on a series of activities that will change the operation of the institution.
College acting director Stephen Mumba commended ZICTA for giving the institution the vehicles saying they will help alleviate the transport challenge it has been facing.
Mr Mumba added that the vehicles would help students conductor educational tours and sport as required by TEVETA.
