NORTH-WEST Rail Company has partnered with Grindrod, a South African company, to construct a 34km railway line in North-Western Province at a cost of K1.1 billion
During a joint press briefing with Zambia Railways Limited chief executive officer Muyenga Atanga yesterday, North-West Rail company chairman Enoch Kavindele said his company has submitted a working document to Government.
“We need to collaborate and work together. We have immediate resources such as locomotives and wagons, which Zambia Railways can use to move cargo from the mines,” Mr Kavindele said.
And Professor Atanga said one train with wagons is equivalent to 30 trucks and so the project would help reduce damage to the roads.
