North MMD rejects dismissal of provincial chairman
Kasama, December 9, ZANIS…………….The Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) in Northern Province has rejected the dismissal of their provincial chairman Steven Mukuka from his position for alleged double dealings.
MMD members from Kasama, Nsama, Mungwi, Kaputa and Mporokoso districts dispelled the assertions in an interview with ZANIS in Kasama today.
The party members who were led by provincial publicity secretary Cephas Bwalya said the dismissal of Mr. Mukuka was illegal and unconstitutional.
And MMD Mporokoso district chairman Darlington Bwalya speaking on behalf of his group said MMD members will rally behind Nevers Mumba’s candidature and will not recognize the works or decisions of the other faction supporting former president Rupiah Banda.
On Lunte MMD MP Felix Mutati’s alleged support for the UPND, Bwalya stated that the party in the district will soon institute disciplinary action against the law maker for working against the interests of the party.
He said as far as the MMD in Lunte was concerned, the party structures were intact and were geared to support Dr. Mumba.
Mr. Bwalya said Mr. Mutati’s allegiance to UPND was a personal matter which the MMD grassroots must dismiss with contempt.
MMD members from several districts in Northern Province are gathered in Kasama to welcome their party president Dr. Mumba who is expected in the area today.
The MMD leadership yesterday dismissed some provincial chairman across the country for alleged double dealings.
