The Zambia Information and Communication Technology Authority (ZICTA) says it will vigorously pursue and implement a standardization policy to improve the information technology sector in the country.
ZICTA Director of Technology and Engineering Partick Mutimushi stated that standards are an essential building block of an information and technology society.
Mr Mutimushi said ZICTA is determined to ensure that safe products and services are made accessible to Zambians.
He said ZICTA has since embarked on prescribing standards that will be used as a benchmark for assessing products and services.
Mr Mutimushi further said that the institution has made positive strides towards achieving the goal of standardising product and services.
And speaking earlier, Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS) Director Emmanuel Mutale disclosed that ZABS and ZICTA had signed a memorandum of understanding designed to regulate the ICT sector.
Mr Mutale noted that the memorandum of understanding signed between the two institutions has resulted in the emergence and development of a number of projects.
