On Tuesday 18th November at the Taj Pamodzi Hotel, The Deputy British High Commissioner, Mr Sean Melbourne, awarded the prizes to the winners of the Zambian Ex-Servicemen’s League Poppy Appeal School Poster Competition.
The two girls in the front of the picture, from Mukamambo 11 Girls Secondary School,
were the overall winners and their entry was turned into the Pull-up poster which is either side of the group. The children were very interesting to talk to and enjoyed the evening with their proud teachers!
These posters were used to bring the Poppy Appeal campaign alive, when the Scouts, Guides and Red Cross helped pack customer’s good in the four Pick n Pay stores in Lusaka for 3 days last week. This worked marvellously as the children had a chance to talk to the customers and sell them poppies. The exercise raised but over K6,000 and all the money goes towards looking after the Zambian War Veterans and widows.
