——-Government has released about K10 million for the rehabilitation of Chilubula and Chishimba access roads in Kasama district.
Kasama District Commissioner, Kalanga Bwalya, confirmed the development to ZANIS in Kasama today.
Mr Bwalya said K7 million will go towards the 3.3 km Chilubula access road whist K3 million will be utilised on the 1.7 km Chishimba road.
He said the two access roads were of historic and tourism significance to Northern Province.
Mr Bwalya added that the contractor – Sable Contractors – will move on site within the week to begin the works on the two access roads.
He added that the plan was to see the two roads upgraded to bituminous standards.
Chilubula Catholic Mission is the oldest in Zambia while the Chishimba access road leads to Chishimba Falls in the area.
Meanwhile, government has also given the District Commissioner’s office K250 000 to erect an ablution block at the DCs office.
Mr Bwalya said the sanitary facility will improve sanitation conditions at the office when modern toilets are erected.
