GOVERNMENT has commenced the distribution of the final draft Constitution to Zambians with the first batch of 1,000 copies handed over to various Government departments and citizens in Ndola.
Copperbelt Province permanent secretary Howard Sikwela said the draft constitution should be circulated widely for people to read and understand the contents.
He said this on Monday at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium during the handover ceremony.
Rev Sikwela said Zambians should be encouraged to cultivate a culture of reading so that they can contribute effectively to the enactment of the Constitution.
“We are simply here to distribute the draft Constitution. The province has received 1,000 copies and we thought it wise to come and distribute them transparently. Of course, these are not enough and we are informed by the Ministry of Justice that they will send more,” he said.
“As you get these copies, please let us ensure that they are given out. Let us not keep them in our office shelves. The whole idea is to give out to the people,” he said.
