The opposition United National Independence Party (UNIP) has charged that the newly launched wing called UNIP ACTIVE is illegal.
UNIP ACTIVE was launched yesterday with a goal of taking the former ruling party to a National Congress.
But UNIP Lusaka Province Information and Publicity Secretary Charles Mwelwa has told QFM News in a telephone interview that the party will not tolerate such indiscipline.
Mr. Mwelwa has accused former UNIP Chairperson for Women Affairs Beatrice Kayuni of allegedly forming the parallel structure to destabilize the former ruling party.
He says the party has been in existence for over 50 years and that they will not allow Ms Kayuni and other suspended members to weaken the party.
He says there is no leadership crisis in the party as purported by the members of UNIP ACTIVE.
