Incarcerated Mufumbwe Member of Parliament Steven Masumba has tendered a written apology for attacking the judiciary.

Masumba is alleged to have on October 4, 2014 authored a story in a daily tabloid where he questioned High Court Judge Chalwe Mchenga’s decision to deny him bail twice.

In a hand written letter of apology to Acting deputy Chief Justice Mervin Mwanamwambwa copied to among others the acting Chief Justice, Judge Mchenga and the Commissioner of Prisons, Mr Masumba apologized to the entire judiciary and Judge Mchenga in particular for dragging them into politics.

Mr Masumba who was convicted for obtaining pecuniary advantage by using an erroneously obtained accounting diploma to get a job, says he regrets all the embarrassment and dishonor that the entire episode may have caused Judge Mchenga’s professional duties.

He has also apologized to the Post Newspapers.

Mr Masumba has further expressed his regrets to the Commissioner of prisons for his actions.

The Mufumbwe is incarcerated at Mwembeshi Maximum Security Prison awaiting bail pending appeal against his conviction has also asked for forgiveness from his family and friends for the inconvenience as a result his incarceration.
He states that he has learnt his lesson from his ordeal and has promised to be a law abiding citizen.
