Water Aid gives K279 for water project
Samfya, November 24, 2014, ZANIS……Water Aid Zambia has released over K279, 000 for sanitation and improvement of water supply in Mwamfuli village in Samfya district of Luapula province.
The development comes after government allowed the support from Water Aid Zambia to make Luapula Water and Sewerage Company to run the Water Aid Project.
Disclosing the matter to ZANIS in Samfya Luapula Water and Sewerage Company Acting Manager Midosantos Chola says the project has already kick started.
Mr Chola said 360 toilets will be constructed in Mwamfuli village and that 35 toilets were almost complete.
Mr. Chola disclosed that Luapula Water and Sewerage Company had decided to build two fee paying pit latrines at the banks of Lake Bangweulu which will cover people from the swamps and the island adding that the place has no standard pit latrines for use at the moment.
He said the installation of piped water has also started and has so far gone to over 50 percent of the works.
Mr Chola has since urged the people of Mwamfuli village to be co-operative saying that was the only way the project would succeed.
