Youth and Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili says he is disappointed with the levels of hooliganism in the party.
Kambwili says he is disappointed that the growing hooliganism in the party has even gone to sports saying among those involved are named senior party officials who he said had almost disrupted yesterday’s boxing bouts of Charles Manyuchi and Cathrine Phiri.
Kambwili said the un- sportsman behaviour exhibited by the named official is uncalled for especially that it was done in the presence of visitors from other countries.
He said even if the named official who was also present at the boxing tournament was intending to use the international boxing bout to campaign for a political office, it was not in order for him to bring call boys to disrupt the boxing tournament.
ZANIS sports reports that the minister said this in an interview yester night at Government Complex in Lusaka shortly after Manyuchi and Phiri defended their boxing titles.
Efforts to get a comment from the named official failed as by broadcast time he had already left Government Complex and his mobile phone could not be reached.
And Kambwili says it is high time that same named official changes and reflects on what he termed as street behaviour which he said he has been known of for a long time now.
“I must ask ( him ) to grow up and become a man. That behaviour he exhibited during the boxing proceedings is for the station. He is a big man and has children and must behave well”, he said.
Mr. Kambwili urged the named official not to bring the game of boxing into disrepute by bringing politics during the proceedings.
An unknown group of people continuously hailed political terms and booing throughout the boxing tournament the situation which also angered the boxing officials.
