The UPND has launched campaigns with HAKAINDE HICHILEMA as its candidate for the January 20 presidential election, at a Media Conference in Lusaka where high profile
Among them, former first lady MAUREEN MWANAWASA, veteran politician VERNON MWAANGA, former prime minister in the UNIP Government General MALIMBA MASHEKE, former MMD National Chairman MICHAEL MABENGA, and former secretary to the cabinet, SKETCHLEY SACHIKA, among others.
And Mr. HICHILEMA has promised to create jobs, lower the cost of living and improve education standards.
He has also committed himself to ensuring cheaper and quality health care and support to farmers when elected republican president.
Mr. HICHILEMA is saddened that most Zambians are wallowing in poverty despite the plentiful natural endowment.
The UPND leader says the abundance water and arable land should be utilized to benefit Zambians.
Meanwhile Mr. HICHILEMA has pledged to deliver the new constitution before the 2016 general election.
Mr Hichilema says he will without delay install Henry Kanyanta Sosala as Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba people.
The UPND leader says the task ahead is huge BUT the desire and compassion is strong to better the lives of all Zambia.
A minute of silence was also observed in memory and honour of late president Michael Sata.
And Dr. MWAANGA says time has come for Zambians to usher in Mr. HICHILEMA as President of Zambia.
Dr MWAANGA says he has great faith that Mr Hichilema will propel the country to greater heights and deliver to the satisfaction of Zambians.
And Dr MWANAWASA has volunteered to be one of the chief campaign managers of the UPND leader.
Meanwhile, former MMD Copperbelt Province Chairman John Chilambwe has also thrown his weight behind the candidature of Mr Hichilema as the best candidate to win the January 20 Presidential election.
Mr Chilambwe says Mr Hichilema is the only candidate who best understands the economic challenges the country faces and his best placed to lead the country out of the problems it faces.
Mr Chilambwe says it is now time to usher to vote for Mr Hichilema as President of Zambia because other parties have been tried in the past and there is need for fresh minds.
He has urged Zambians to vote for Mr Hichilema as President of Zambia on January 20, 2015.
