The Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- has set 17, 18 and 19th December for filing in of nominations for Presidential candidates for the January 20 by elections.
This follows the announcement of the date of the presidential election by Acting president GUY SCOTT yesterday.
Presidential aspirants are expected to file in their nomination papers before the Chief Justice, who is the returning officer between 09 and 17 hours from December 17 to December 19,2014.
ECZ Public Relations Manager, CHRIS AKUFUNA has therefore advised aspiring candidates to indicate to the commission time they wish to lodge their nomination papers.
He says aspiring presidential candidates should lodge duly completed and attested statutory declaration of assets and liabilities and an oath of Zambian citizenship.
Mr AKUFUNA also says aspiring Presidential candidates should also declare that they will comply to the Electoral code of conduct.
And Mr AKUFUNA says the campaign period starts and starts TODAY and ends at 18 hours on January 19, 2015 the eve of the Presidential election.
Mr AKUFUNA also advised registered non-governmental organisations and political parties wishing to monitor the elections to apply for acredidation from their respective District Electoral Officers, while international observers should apply to the ECZ.
Acting president GUY SCOTT has set Tuesday, January 20, 2015 as date for the presidential election.
