The Ministry of Community Development, Mother and Child Health in Mitete district has received 500 by 50 kilogramme bags of urea fertilizer for 2014 /2015 farming season.
Mitete District Assistant Community Development Officer Ernest Mukubesa said the urea fertilizer is from Ministry of Community Development, Mother and Child Health headquarters in Lusaka.
Mr. Mukubesa said the urea fertiliser arrived in Mitete district on November 4th, 2014.
He said the district was still expecting 500 by 50 kilogramme of D-compound fertiliser.
He said the distribution of the fertiliser will start as soon as the district receives all the 1,000 by 50 kilogramme bags.
Mr. Mukubesa told ZANIS in Lukulu that the fertiliser will be distributed to Sitwala, Muyondoti and Kakulunda areas in Mitete district.
He was happy that farmers in the district will benefit from fertilizer and expressed optimism that the area will produce a bumper maize harvest next year.
He has since thanked government for delivering fertilizer to farmers in good time.
