Lukulu holds Sata memorial service
Lukulu, November 6, 2014, ZANIS — Lukulu District yesterday joined the rest of the province and the country in holding memorial prayer services in honour of the late President Michael Sata who died in London last week on October 28.
And District Commissioner Precious Muyenga has described the late President Michael Sata as a great leader who recognized the need to appoint women in decision making positions .
ZANIS reports that speaking at the inter-denomination memorial prayer service for the late President held at St Columbus School hall last evening, Ms. Muyenga said district benefited from the developmental leadership of the late President Sata.
Ms. Muyenga pointed out that it was for this reason that people should mourn him with honor and dignity for he wanted to develop the area through the creation of Mitete district.
And delivering his sermon at the memorial prayer service Reverend Fredrick Musanshi urged people to mourn with hope and know that God was alive.
Meanwhile, Santa Maria Catholic Parish Priest Fr. Chibwe Tembo said the nation has lost a man who had a vision for the country.
Fr. Tembo has urged Zambians to thank God for the gift of life of the late President Sata while he lived for he was a dedicated Christian who committed his leadership to the Lord when he came to power three years ago.
In attendance was Lukulu West area Member of Parliament Misheck Mutelo, Mitete District Commissioner Teddy Chimbinde, Heads of Government Departments for Lukulu and Mitete districts, pastors and choirs from various churches, and the general public.
Choirs sung newly composed songs of tribute in honor of the late President Sata’s work.
