President Sata’s death saddens fishmongers in Nchelenge District
Nhcelenge, Nov. 5th, 2014, ZANIS —– THE fishing community in Nchelenge District of Luapula Province says it has been saddened by the untimely death of President Michael Sata.
The Mweru-Luapula Fishing Association (MLFA ) chairperson Robam Mwape says the entire fishing community of the Mweru-Luapula Fishery is saddened by the demise of Zambia’s fifth republican President.
Mr. Mwape said his Organisation is grieved by the untimely death of President Sata adding that they are mourning with the first family and the rest of Zambian people.
Mr. Mwape said under President Sata’s administration the fishing industry in Nchelenge District and Luapula Province as a whole saw unprecedented mass investments.
He said Nchelenge District this year received over three millions of kwacha from the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) for fish farming.
He attributed this development to the late PF leader and republican President Sata’s desire to better the lives of the poor especially in rural areas.
He said through the CEEC fund, various women and youth groups were empowered with more money in their pockets through the cluster loans for fish farming and fish caging.
He observed that in 50 years of independence the fishing communities of the Mweru-Luapula Fishery were given a new ray of hope amidst the dwindling fish stocks in the natural fishery by the late President.
