Zambia corruption stance commended
Mansa, October 22, 2014,ZANIS—The first District Commissioner for Mansa Hugh Bown has commended Zambia for her strong stance on the fight against corruption.
Mr Bown who has travelled all the way from England for the Golden Jubilee celebrations says the stance that Zambia has taken in tackling corruption will go a long way in seeing the country develop further.
ZANIS reports that the former District Commissioner who is accompanied by his wife Eira Bown said this in Mansa where he has visited a district he headed soon after independence.
He observed that Zambia has developed especially in the area of education where a lot of schools have been built and that the country has more graduates compared to only two that were in the country in 1955 when he came to Zambia.
Mr Bown said the building of more schools in the country confirms the Zambian government’s vision at independence of building more schools which the then government blamed the colonial masters for not having done enough in the education sector.
He said it was gratifying to see the harmony that is in the country adding that what is more encouraging was the interaction that different political parties have with each other.
He added that although during the transition for independence there was violence in selected areas Zambia under its own rule has managed to embrace love and harmony.
Hugh Bown served as District commissioner for Mansa before he was sent to serve in the same capacity in Kasama but spent most of his life while Zambia in Kawambwa.
