THE Zambia Motor Sport Association (ZMSA) has met its K43,000 budget to stage the seventh round of the National Rally Championship in Monze on Independence Day.
Organising committee chairperson, Juma Banda said the budget for the Monze rally set for October 24, had been made possible following generous contributions from the corporate world.
Banda said Meanwood General Insurance pumped in K15,000 while Mwalini investment chipped in with K10,000.
“We had unveiled a K43,000 to stage the Monze rally and I am glad Meanwood General come on board with K15,000 and other local sponsors,” he said.
Banda named some of the local sponsors as Muzanga Gardens who pushed in K6,000 and Welcome Farm donated K2,000.
He said 20 local drivers had confirmed participation in the Monze Rally and that more were still expected to enter the competition.
Meanwhile rally driver George Chuulu has vowed to maintain leadership of the National rally chart until he is crowned champion.
Chuulu said his car was in good condition and expressed confidence of collecting maximum points during the Monze Rally and eventually win the title.
“During the Monze Rally I will go flat out and collect maximum points because the competition is stiff,” he said.
Chuulu is currently toping the chart with 111 points while the African Rally champion Jassy Singh lies second on 106 points.
