Government says it welcomes private partnership in empowering youths with entrepreneurial skills aimed at promoting self reliance.
Luanshya District Commissioner Harold Mbaulu says it was for this reason that government was creating youth training centers countrywide.
Mr. Mbaulu says this was in order to equip youths with skills that would help liberate them from being dependant from formal jobs which are currently scarce.
ZANIS reports that the Luanshya D.S was speaking in Luanshya when wife to the American Charge de Affairs Diane Young called on him at his office, today.
The Envoy’s wife is in the district for a two day visit to create awareness of a Young Leadership Foundation USAID funded scholarship program aimed at empowering young people with entrepreneurial and business management skills.
He said government efforts alone were not enough to quench the high demand of both skills development and employment in the district.
And Ms. Young says the fully sponsored six week programe to be undertaken in the United States of America was targeting young people under the age of 35 years, fluent in both oral and written English, who would undergo extensive training on entrepreneurial skill.
Ms. Young is scheduled to visit youth organisations and youth friendly corners in hospitals among other youth oriented programmes.
