-A fisherman in Chipili village of
Kaputa district has allegedly murdered his colleague after picking up
a quarrel over a K10 debt.

Jelly Katai,  who is on the run,  was alleged to have been upset with his
colleague after he refused to go to Lake Mweru Wantipa to catch fish
to settle his debt.

Chipili Ward Councillor, Ronald Matipa who confirmed the development to
ZANIS yesterday said the incident happened on Friday.

Mr. Matipa narrated that the two used to work together in fishing but
at one time the deceased is alleged to have borrowed a K10 from the
suspect.

He said on the material day the two went to drink some local beer and
after getting drunk, the suspect started forcing his colleague to go
to the lake to catch fish in order to offset his debt.

Mr. Matipa said the deceased refused and requested that they go the
following day because he was drunk and could not manage to go to the
lake for fishing.

He added that Katai then got upset and started beating the deceased
and allegedly kicked him around the private parts before he died.

The Councillor said the body of the deceased was later taken to Kaputa
District Hospital Mortuary while the suspect ran away and has not been
found until now.

Health officers from Kaputa yesterday conducted a post-mortem on the
deceased and he was later buried in his village in Chipili village.

And the Councillor has appealed to police to intensify patrols in the
ward saying there is too much confusions because of it been near the
lake.
