Acting Chief Mukupa Katandula of the Tabwa speaking people of Kaputa district has died.
The Acting chief 58, died at his palace in Kaputa yesterday after a short illness.
Executive Secretary of the Mukupa Katandula Royal Establishment Chipili Mutono confirmed the development to ZANIS in Kaputa last night.
He said the body of the traditional leader was still laying at the palace awaiting burial arrangements to be made.
Mr. Mutono said the late Chief whose name was John Katai is survived by a wife and six children.
The late acting chief Mukupa Katandula ascended to the throne after the substantive Chief Mukupa Katandula resigned from the position.
The Establishment had earlier this year proposed to officially appoint the deceased but Senior Chief Nsama who is supposed to approve the appointment declined saying the retired chief had not officially informed him.
But Mr. Mutono said the Establishment had resolved the issue with Senior Chief Nsama and were in the process officially appointing the deceased to the throne.
