—-MMD Rufunsa Member of Parliament Kenneth Chipungu says Investrust Bank’s intention to open three branches in Rufunsa District of Lusaka Province will accelerate social- economic development in the area.

And Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Wamunyima Muwana has outlined government’s development plan for newly created districts in order for foster infrastructure and other social amenities.

 

Meanwhile, Senior Chieftainess Nkomenshya Mukamambo II of the Soli people has taken a swipe against parents and guardians in the tendency of marrying off young girls at the expense of education.

 

And Chief Mpanshya Kalubangwe II praised President Michael Sata for his visionary leadership which has seen the transformation of chiefdom.

 

ZANIS reports that Mr. Chipungu said Rufunsa District has started seeing the benefits of its district status following President Michael Sata’s declaration in 2012 as part of his vision to bring service delivery closer to people.

 

Mr. Chipungu who is also MMD Elections chairperson was speaking during the 14th Chibwela Kumunshi tradition ceremony of the Soli people of Chief Mpanshya Kalubangwe II of Rufunsa District yesterday.

 

He explained that Investrust Bank intends to open three branches in Chinyunyu, Rufunsa and Luangwa Bridge areas of the vast Rufunsa District to cater for the increased economic activities in the area.

 

Earlier, Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Wamunyima Muwana assured Zambians that government has outlined government’s development plan for newly created districts in order for foster infrastructure and other social amenities.

 

Mr. Muwana said government will soon start the construction of District administration blocks, post office, housing units for civil servants, Police Station and other social amenities in all the four newly created districts of the province.

 

He pointed out that the Provincial Rural Roads Unit (RRU) has finished working on the Chipeketi, Shikabeta and Chomba roads which were last worked on decades ago hence retarding developing in the affected areas.

 

Meanwhile, Senior Chieftainess Nkomenshya Mukamambo II of the Soli people has commended government for continuing with the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) for peasant farmers.

 

Senior Chieftainess Nkomenshya Mukamambo II who is also House of Chiefs chairperson, said the Soli people are hardworking and wants to contribute to food security at both household and domestic level.

 

She however appealed to government to consider delivering subsidized farming inputs to farmers on time if the country is to continue recording bumper harvests.

 

And speaking at the same function through a representative Paul Phiri, Chief Mpanshya Kalubangwe II praised President Michael Sata for his visionary leadership which has seen the transformation of chiefdom.

 

Chief Mpanshya Kalubangwe II noted that since the declaration of Rufunsa as a district in 2012, government has deplored public service workers to the district.

 

The traditional leader implored public service workers to work hard in helping governmet in developing the district.

 

The Chibwela Kumunshi traditional ceremony is celebrated by the Soli people of Chief Mpanshya Kalubangwe II after returning home from their fields ‘’Mabala’’.

 

The Soli people literally camp during the planting season to protect various crops from some destructive birds and wild animals which form their habitat.
