Fourty ( 40) opposition Movement for Multiparty Democracy(MMD) members in Nakonde district of Muchinga province have defected to the ruling Patriotic Front -PF.
This is contained in a press statement released to the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) by PF Nakonde district chairman Joe Chanda.
Mr Chanda said the entire ward executive of the MMD in Ilondola ward together with 4 branches in Nakonde consituency have resigned and defected to the ruling PF.
Mr. Chanda said the defectors were led by ward chairman Jacob Sinkala who surrendered MMD membership cards on their behalf.
Mr Chanda said the defectors got attracted to the PF after the area member of parliament Able Sichula addressed a meeting at Kantongo where he explained and outlined the PF policies and development projects that are being undertaken in Nakonde and the country at large.
He said the defectors were received on Monday by Nakonde constituency member of Parliament Able Sichula.
The District chairman said the MP commended the defectors for making a wise and bold decision to join the PF which is a visionary party that has embarked on uplifting the standards of living of the people through the provision of developmental projects.
