FODEP commends party maturity
Vubwi, September 11, 2014, ZANIS..…Forum for Democratic Process(FODEP) president Shepherd Chilombo has commended political parties contesting in the Vubwi parliamentary by-election for sustaining peace.
Speaking in an interview with journalistsshortly after monitoring some polling stations in Vubwi today, Mr. Chilombo said the election campaigns until the voting day have been peaceful and fantastic compared to the recent Mangango and other by-elections.
He was impressed that at least all the 26 polling stations were opened by 06:00 hours in the morning and people had already started casting their votes.
He observed that the Vubwi by-election had been characterized with voter apathy attributing it to long distances to the polling stations .
Mr. Chilombo has since assured political parties that are against the electronically transmitted results that the results would be transmitted manually.
Voting In the Vubwi, Kasenengwa, Mkushi South, Solwezi Central and Zambezi West parliamentary by-elections is meanwhile underway and expected to close at 18:00 hours.
