The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) says it is disheartening to note that the opposition in the country is still weak to provide quality checks and balances on government.
YALI Governance Advisor, Isaac Mwanza, has told QFM News in an interview that the people’s desire is to see a strong opposition as well as a strong ruling party.
Mr. Mwanza says there is no doubt that the people of Zambia are aware that the country has a weak opposition.
He notes that should the ruling PF scoop most of the five seats in the forthcoming September 11 by-elections, it will weaken the opposition even more.
Mr. Mwanza says the problem with the opposition in the country is that they think it will be easy to unseat the PF in 2016.
