Govt to revise the Nutrition Act
Kabwe, ZANIS, August 28th, 2014 , ZANIS —– Government has reiterated its commitment to review the National Food and Nutrition Commission ‘NFNC’ Act that was attempted in 2007.
Health Permanent Secretary, Davy Chikamata, says government realizes the importance of the NFNC’s role in ensuring issues of Food and Nutrition are implemented to benefit the Zambian
population.
Dr. Chikamata said this at a workshop held at Gonde Lodge in Kabwe, yesterday.
He adds that the Government has also recognized the challenges the NFNC faces in undertaking its role, due to inadequate institutional legal framework within which it operates.
“The Ministry is committed to quickening the pace in reviewing the NFNC Act which was not successful in 2007 due to the restructuring process in the Ministry of Health” Dr. Chikamata said.
He said the workshop, held to review the NFNC Act is critical to the development of a legal framework that will enhance the operations of the NFNC.
