—Three people have died on the spot after a canoe they were paddling capsised in Chinsali district of Muchinga Province.
Muchinga Province Deputy Police Commissioner, Bonny Kapeso, confirmed the incident today in a telephone interview with the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS).
Mr Kapeso identified the deceased as Christopher Mulenga, aged 13, Neckson Chilima, nine, and Emmanuel Mutale eight, all of Chifita village in Chief Nkweto`s area.
He said the incident happened on Sunday last week around 06:00hrs at Kaswande dam near Chambeshi River but the matter was reported yesterday.
The Deputy Police Commissioner said that the trio met its fate while fishing.
Mr Kapeso said the bodies of the deceased persons were retrieved and have since been buried, adding that Police have not suspected any foul play.
