—A Lusaka based agricultural expert says there is need to adopt innovative low technologies that can help small scale farmers make farming profitable.
Grassroots Trust Executive Director, Rolf Shenton, says with the increased price of fertiliser and other farming inputs, small scale famers should endeavour to adopt organic type of farming.
Mr Shenton said this in an interview with ZANIS today during an Organic Farm Day tour in Kafue.
He reiterated the urgent need for farmers in the country to adopt a more holistic approach towards improving land fertility in the country.
Mr Shenton cited organic farming among other methods as one of the best practical ways farmers in the country can use to improve land fertility.
He observed that the current reduction in crop yields in most parts of the country is due to farmers not adopting the best ways of preserving the land.
Grassroots Trust is an organisation based in Lusaka and deals in issues of conservation farming.
