THE Kabwe fast-track cCourt on Friday last week convicted and fined 15 motorists who were arrested by the Road Safety Transport Agency (RTSA) for various road traffic offences.
Meanwhile, panic characterise the court as those who were convicted and fined, were found making phone calls to raise money for their fines and complained that the RTSA should have sensitised the motorists before carrying out their operation.
The 15 motorist pleaded guilty to various charges, which ranged from driving without a licence, driving under the influence of alcohol and careless driving, when taking plea before Magistrate Maxwell Shibwanga.
Last week the agency swung into action and mounted random checks where motorists were apprehended.
Those who were convicted and were found making payment complained that it was wrong for the agency to ambush the motorists in the manner they did, while some residents welcomed the action by RTSA saying it was long overdue.
Those talked to, said Kabwe had seen a lot of incompetent drivers who and in some cases had resulted in loss of lives.
