Govt. warns against abuse of CDF
Kitwe , August 16th, 2014, ZANIS —- Government has commissioned a semi-detached house and a borehole in Kitwe’s Chimwemwe constituency using the constituency development funds.
The semi- detached house and the borehole were constructed at the cost of K300, 000 and K108 , 000 respectively at Twatasha clinic will help the clinic staff to attend to patients on a twenty four hours basis.
The borehole has been set up in Zambia Compound in the out skirts of Kitwe.
Speaking at the commissioning of the two facilities, Copperbelt minister Mwenya Musenge said the CDF was an important means of vehicle to alleviate social-economic challenges facing the ordinary people.
Mr. Musenge who is also Chimwemwe Constituency MP however warned against abuse of the CDF adding that if found wanting , culprits will be dealt with sternly by the parliamentarian said it was unfortunate that some people in some constituencies were abusing CDF which is meant for the vulnerable in society.
He also appealed for an increase in the CDF allocation so that more developmental projects can be implemented to improve the people’s livelihood in communities.
And Marjory Nkhoma , a resident of Zambia Compound thanked government for the provision of clean water which he said had been a big problem as most residents were relying on shallow wells that kept on drying up.
Ms Nkhoma appealed for more boreholes in the area as one borehole was not enough to cater for the large population in Zambia Compound.
