GAME Stores manager Vincent Pallan has been released from police custody and is expected to be in the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday next week.
Acting police spokesperson Esther Katongo said yesterday that Mr Pallan will appear in court on charges of sexual harassment and indecent assault.
“We have released Mr Pallan on police bond on conditions that he brings two traceable sureties. In an event that the sureties fail to bring him to court, they will be charged K10,000 each,” Mrs Katongo said.
On Thursday, police arrested and charged Mr Pallan with two counts of sexual harassment and indecent assault.
Mr Pallan, 46, of house number 8 Mass Media in Lusaka, was charged with the sexual harassment and indecent assault contrary sections 137(a) and 137 of the Penal Code of Laws of Zambia.
Police commenced investigations into Mr Pallan’s case after they received a report from a former Game Stores employee, Mukamuliti Mwila, who alleged that she was sexually harassed.
Minister of Labour and Social Security Fackson Shamenda also said on Wednesday that his ministry had commenced investigations into the matter.
Mr Shamenda said his ministry would work in collaboration with the Victim Support Unit.
And Game Stores says the chain store is treating the allegations against Mr Pallan with “outmost importance” at the highest level and in consultations with the relevant stakeholders and authorities.
The chain store stated in a statement yesterday that it is committed to investigating the matter in a fair and transparent manner.
