The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) has commended political parties for valuing peace, tolerance, and co-existence during yesterday’s filing in of nominations in five constituencies.
FODEP Executive Director McDonald Chipenzi expressed happiness that the filing in of nominations progressed without any negative electoral incidents in Vubwi, Kasenengwa, Mkushi South, Solwezi Central and Zambezi West constituencies.
Political parties yesterday filed in their nominations in the five parliamentary by-elections taking place on 11th September , 2014.
In a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today, Mr. Chipenzi applauded the political parties for conducting themselves in a mature and disciplined manner throughout the nomination process.
Mr. Chipenzi said the practice should always be envied and pursued by all in the coming days when the electoral campaigns heat up.
And Mr. Chipenzi has called on political parties and all concerned stakeholders to operate within and respect the provisions of the Electoral Code of Conduct during the campaigns.
He stated that Electorates would only have confidence in the electoral and political processes if competing political parties, candidates and supporters abhor and avoid violence.
