Kabwe, August 12 th, 2014, ZANIS —- Kabwe Town Clerk Oliver Muuka has thanked candidates taking part in the Highridge ward By-elections, for the manner in which they are conducting their campaigns.
Mr. Muuka says he is happy that, to date, he has not received any violent reports from the Conflict Management Committee.
He says from the onset of the campaigns, the environment in the Ward, has been peaceful and that he has not received any violent reports from anyone.
ZANIS reports that the Kabwe Town Clerk said this in an interview at his office today.
And United Party for National Development, UPND, Provincial Secretary, David Siamuzyulu, says the campaigns are going well and he expects a large turnout on the voting day.
Mr. Siamuzyulu says his party has not faced any challenges so far, adding that he is happy with the way other political parties are behaving and conducting their campaigns.
He has, therefore, called for continued peace and harmony among the political parties as the campaigns continue.
Meanwhile, the opposition MMD, Campaign Coordinator, Garry Domingo, has appealed to members of the public to stop tearing down the posters as it is a way of selling out the candidates.
Mr. Domingo has also appealed to the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to take keen interest in sensitizing people on the essence of posters because this behavior is common in Kabwe.
Highridge Ward will be going for polls on the 19th August in an election which will be contested by five political parties, namely Alliance for Better Zambia (ABZ), MMD, PF and UPND.
