A TWENTY-SIX-YEAR-OLD Kabwe man has allegedly axed his uncle to death. Alfred Musonda, suspected to be deranged, axed his 57-year-old uncle, James Chama, three times in the head.
Central Province Commissioner of Police Standwell Lungu said the incident happened on Thursday around 17:30 hours in Natuseko Site and Service area, where Mr Chama was axed while seated outside his house.
Mr Lungu said that police had since taken the axe, while a manhunt had been launched for the suspect, who fled after the incident.
“W are looking for a man suspected to be mentally disturbed who axed his uncle to death. We are looking for him so that he can be medically examined before taking any further steps,” he said.
In another incident, an 11-year-old Mkushi girl died instantly after she was hit by a motor vehicle while waiting to cross the road.
The accident happened around 13:00 hours when the Ndola-based motorist, identified as Emmanuel Mananga, allegedly lost control after attempting to avoid hitting an object and instead hit the girl who was standing on the side of the road with a bicycle, waiting to cross the road.
Mr Lungu said the suspect was driving a Mitsubishi Canter and identified the girl as Contentious Mwila of Masansa area.
Meanwhile, police have arrested a man for allegedly defiling his seven-year-old stepdaughter. The incident happened around 01:00 hours when Large Mwape allegedly sneaked into the room the girl was sleeping in and had sex with her.
Mwape has since been arrested and charged with defilement and will appear in court soon.
