ZCTU urges child labour sensitization
Nakonde, August 1, 2014,ZANIS…The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) in Muchinga Province has appealed to the Ministry of Labour to consider holding workshops on child labour and human trafficking in Nakonde district.
ZCTU Muchinga Province regional coordinator Kasanda Nondo said this in an interview with the Zambia News and Information Service (ZANIS) in Nakonde today.
Mr Nondo said the Labour movement condemns the recent trafficking of children from Nakonde into the neighboring Tanzania as the action promotes child labour and abuse.
He has however appealed to the Ministry of Labour through the Labour minister Fackson Shamenda to consider conducting workshops on child labour and human trafficking in the border town.
Mr Nondo is also appealing to the Ministry of Home Affairs to equip Nakonde police station with additional transport and accommodation to supplement their efforts in maintaining law and order in the growing border town.
He said Nakonde was a fast growing district and that crime levels are also increasing.
