Verification exercise for Angolans set
Lusaka, August 1,2014,ZANIS……….Government, the UN Refugee Agency(UNHCR), and the Angolan government are set to conduct a verification and registration exercise of self-settled former Angolan refugees who are leaving in urban and rural areas of Zambia
The objective of the exercise is to allow Angolan former refugees to access different immigration permits essential for those wishing to remain in Zambia or to receive support to return to Angola.
The verification and registration exercise will also provide the Zambian Government, Angolan Government and the UNHCR with updated information on former Angolan refugees living in Zambia.
According to a statement released to ZANIS in Lusaka today, the verification and registration exercise will commence on Monday, 4th August and end on the 15 October 2014.
The verification and registration exercise is scheduled to start with Kitwe, Lufwanyama, Mufulira, and Chingola.
The registration team will from 15 August go to North Western Province, covering Solwezi, Mwinilunga, Kasempa, Kabompo, Zambezi and Chavuma
Other provinces to be covered under this exercise will be Western – Lukulu, Mongu, Kalabo, Senanga, Shang’ombo, Sioma and sesheke.
In Southern province it will be Kalabo and Choma while in Central provinces it will be Itezhi Tezhi and Mumbwa.
The ministry of Home Affairs and UNHCR have urged all self-settled former Angolan refugees in the targeted provinces to take advantage of the verification and registration excises.
