— President Michael Sata says the Patriotic Front (PF) Government has created over 400,000 jobs since it came into power in 2011.
President Sata says from October 2011 and July 2014, a total of 436,363 jobs have been created in the country.
President Sata explained in his latest facebook posting today that said 218,701 jobs were created in the tourism sector while the service, finance and banking industry had 75,578 and the electricity, gas and water sector contributed 28,618.
The President said 73,311 jobs were created in the construction sector, transport and communication 15,114 and education 10,099.
The community, social and personal industries recorded 4,998 jobs, health 3,640, agriculture, forestry and fishing (3,216) while 3,088 jobs were created in other industries.
President Sata reiterated that the PF Government attaches great importance to employment creation as the top most strategy for ensuring the stability of society and overall growth of the economy.
And President Sata has said that Government has accelerated the development of the Multi-Facility Economic Zones (MFEZ) and Industrial Parks which are expected to create over 110,000 jobs once fully operational.
He disclosed that to-date, six MFEZ have been declared and approved.
Mr. Sata named the MFEZ sites that have been approved as Chambishi, Lusaka South, Lusaka East and the Lumwana MFEZ.
Others include the Kalumbila and Maamba MFEZ sites while the Industrial Parks are the Sub Sahara Gemstone Exchange and the Roma Industrial Park.
The Head of State said Government would continue to focus on exploiting advantages in labour and natural resources, and actively developing labour intensive industries and enterprises in line with the PF Manifesto.
