62 -year-old woman raped

A  Seventeen year old Juvenile and a 28 –year-old man of Nakonde District in Muchinga Province have been arrested for allegedly gang-raping a 62- year- old woman of Chilolwa Village in Nakonde district.

And a six year old grade 1 pupil at Kanyimbo Community School in Nakonde has been defiled by her uncle.

Muchinga Deputy Police Commissioner Bonny Kapeso has confirmed both developments to ZANIS in Chinsali today.

Mr Kapeso said Joyce Nawale, 62, was gang-raped by Kennedy Sichalwe, and a juvenile aged 17 both of Chilolwa Village.

Mr Kapeso explained that Nawale was coming from a nearby village when she was attacked by the two who took turns in raping her around20:00 hours on Tuesday, 22 July, 2014.

The Deputy Police Commissioner said the two suspects are currently being held at Nakonde Police station and will appear in court soon.

In another development, a grade one pupil at Kanyimbo Community School in Nakonde district has been defiled by her uncle.

Mr Kapeso told ZANIS that the six year- old girl was defiled by Geoffrey Simukonda whose age is not known.

He said the incident occurred on Tuesday, 22 July, 2014 at about 20:00 hours in the Kanyimbo Village and that Simukonde is on the run.

Mr Kapeso has since appealed to members of the public to report to the nearest police station on the whereabouts of Simukonda.
