‘Lax’ civil servants irk mournful Mwata Kazembe
Mwansabombwe, July 15th, 2014, ZANIS —- Mwata Kazembe of the Lunda People in Luapula Province has taken a swipe at the civil servants who do not mourn with him whenever he has a funeral.
This was after few civil servants were available to witness the arrival of the body of the late Prince Shadreck Naweji Chinyanta to Mwansabombwe District from Kawambwa District where it was earlier flown from Lusaka aboard a Zambia Air force Plane.
The Mwata has since threatened to chase the ‘ uncaring’ civil servants who do not mourn with him each time he has bereavement.
ZANIS reports that the Mwata said this when Kawambwa District Commissioner (DC), Ivo Mpasa and his Mwansabombwe District counterpart Victor Kasuba visited his Palace yesterday.
The traditional leader complained that he has had several bereavements in the recent past and has observed with sadness that most public service workers in Mwansabombwe District do not visit the houses where the funerals are held.
Mwata Kazembe singled out Mwansabombwe DC, Victor Kasuba as the only Civil Servant who always attended funerals involving the royal family.
“Should this trend continue I will be forced to chase all of the Civil Servants to the site where houses are being constructed for them, so that they can be meeting with hyenas,” the Mwata said.
The Traditional ruler was referring to the site where 10 houses are being constructed under the Ministry of Local Government. The houses are at Slab level.
The Mwata also wondered how civil servants would feel if they were bereaved and no one went to help them to mourn.
And responding to the Mwata’s complaint, Kawambwa District Commissioner, Ivo Mpasa said government had taken note of his sentiment.
Mr. Mpasa said Government will ensure that the concerns are addressed.
The late Prince Chinyanta who died in New Zealand on 27th June is expected to be put to rest today.
