MMD president Nevers Mumba says it is unfortunate that the PF has instructed its lawyers to prosecute cases involving members of parliament whose seats were nullified on grounds of corruption in the High Court.
Commenting on the resolutions of the PF’s Central Committee to proceed with the cases to the High Court for a logical conclusion, Mumba claimed the action by the PF had no support from Zambians.
“It will be an unfortunate decision if the PF goes ahead with their plans. Zambians are not interested in the wastage of tax payers money on issues that are already decided by the Supreme Court. The PF should understand that the affected constituencies have lacked representation for close to a year. Even if it is fear of losing the by-elections, this is not the best way to go about it,” Mumba said.
He said the PF was scared it would be humiliated in the by-elections if the opposition went ahead to adopt the members of parliament whose seats were nullified.
“They PF declared this war petitions so let us take it to the end,” said Mumba.
Last week, PF secretary general Wynter Kabimba disclosed that his party had instructed its lawyers to prosecute cases involving members of parliament whose seats were nullified on grounds of corruption in the High Court.
Addressing party officials in Kaoma, Kabimba, the justice minister said the central committee unanimously resolved that corruption was a matter of principle and that the cases would proceed in the High Court.
