Govt. expanding water quality laboratory in North-western province
Solwezi, July 2, 2014, ZANIS —- Government says it is expanding a water quality laboratory for North-western province at a cost of K219, 000.
The laboratory which is at the water affairs department in Solwezi district is almost complete with only minor works remaining to be done.
North-western province water affairs officer George Ndhlovu says that the new water laboratory will enable the department carry out physical and bacteriological tests on both surface and underground water without taking samples outside the province.
Mr Ndhlovu said the laboratory is a good and timely investment for the province as it will help in monitoring the quality of water following increased mining activities.
ZANIS reports that North-western province water affairs officer said this in an interview in Solwezi district today.
He said the project will reduce on the cost that the department was incurring in taking water samples to other provinces for testing.
Mr Ndhlovu added that with increased space, more equipment will now be procured for more tests to be conducted.
That’s good
