Govt. bemoans increased GBV cases in Kafue district
Kafue, July 2, 2014, ZANIS —– Government has bemoaned the high levels of Gender-Based-Violence in the Kafue district.
Kafue district administrative officer, Ngoni Moyo says the increased cases of GBV in the district is due to early marriages.
Mr. Moyo has for this reason cautioned Kafue residents not to engage in counterproductive such as early marriages, defilements, child abuse among others.
He said these were some of the vices which should be eradicated in the district.
ZANIS reports that the district administrative officer said this at the funeral house of a woman who was found dead in her matrimonial home in in Chananya the early hours of today.
The deceased identified as Judith Sakalenje aged between 30 and 35 years, is suspected to have died after a domestic fight with her husband Evaristo Chembo 35, after a drinking spree.
The body is in Kafue District Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem while the husband is in police custard to help with investigations.
