Govt committed to food security
Kawambwa, July 2, 2014, ZANIS– Kawambwa district council chairperson Angela Sichone says government is committed to ensuring food security at household, district and national levels.
Mrs Sichone said at the district agriculture and commercial show held recently at Kawambwa Tea States that the government will continue to support the farmers through the Input Support Programme (FISP) in the 2014 / 2015 farming season.
The councilor advised the farmers to therefore prepare their fields in good time especially that the government intends to start distribution of inputs this farming season early.
Mrs Sichone has also advised the cooperatives to prepare all the documents required for participation in this year’s FISP programme.
She commended the farmers and farmer groups that have won the awards at the show saying there will be more competitions in the future.
The theme for the agriculture show was ”Breaking New Grounds in 2014”.
