Govt. warns FRA Supervisors

CHISAMBA, July 1st,  2014, ZANIS —- CHISAMBA District Commissioner Ferdinand Chipindi has warned Food Reserve Agency (FRA) Supervisors against fraudulent activities during this year’s marketing season.

Mr Chipindi said that government would not tolerate Supervisors that were frustrating its efforts maize buying exercise by buying underweight bags of maize instead of 50 kilograms.

He said in some cases maize was diverted and sold on the market therefore, depriving the nation of its strategic national food reserve.

The District Commissioner said this at the official opening of the training for Satellite Depot Clerks, Data Entry Supervisors, Accounts Assistants, and Commodity Checkers at Chipokota Mayamba in Chisamba.

Mr Chipindi warned that this would not be tolerated and should be avoided at all cost this marketing season.

He said it is important that there is no delay in the movement of stock from the depots so as to avoid a repeat of last year where Maize got soaked.

He said there was need to safe guard the produce especially that the district had produced a bumper harvest this season.

“The Patriotic Front government shall not allow maize going to waste and for this reason, we implore you as Supervisors to perform to the expectation of government so that maize is moved before the rain season.” said Chipindi.

He appealed to the community to assist Satellite Depot Clerks to ensure that the maize they produced does not go to waste and that they accept to be employed as casual workers as a means of their contribution to food security.
