Government is concerned that the high legal fees charged by lawyers are inhibiting many Zambians from accessing justice in the courts of law.
Justice Permanent secretary Joseph Akafumba says many citizens are failing to access justice because of the exorbitant legal fees being demanded by legal practitioners.
Mr. Akafumba however says this does not in anyway suggest that the country’s justice system is a failure.
He said this in a speech read for him by Director of governance in the ministry of justice Maria Kawimbe during the launch of the ‘legal expenses insurance product’ by Nico Insurance Zambia limited.
And Nico Insurance Zambia limited chief executive officer Titus Kalenga says the product is intended to help the SMEs and individuals access legal services quickly and efficiently.
