Prince Akishino, the younger son of Emperor Akihito, and his wife Princess Kiko left Narita airport Friday for an official visit to Zambia and Tanzania.
The couple will arrive in Zambia on Saturday via South Africa and travel to Tanzania on Wednesday. They will arrive back in Japan on July 8 by a flight via Britain.
In Zambia, the couple will attend a reception to be held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Japan as well as a government-hosted dinner. They will also visit the University of Zambia, which receives funding from Japan.
In Tanzania, the couple will call on President Jakaya Kikwete and pay a visit to the Serengeti National Park.
